About
If you're new here, you may want to subscribe to my RSS feed. Thanks for visiting!
First of all, if you’ve clicked on this page, chances are you want to get to know me and, you’re in luck; I want to get to know you, too. We’re practically friends already.
Let me introduce myself and explain the purpose for creating this site. My name is Lindsay Amezotchi, and I’ve created College Writing 101 as a way to share what I’ve learned as a student, a writer, and as a teacher of writing with you. I teach college preparatory composition to high school seniors and composition to first year college students, and I’m currently back in graduate school, experiences which make me aware of what students need to be successful with college writing. I hope that you are here because you are curious and because you have the desire to become a better writer. (Curiousity is, by the way, the first step in inquiry, which is a basic requirement for college-level writing.) Wherever you are at in your journey, just beginning as an eager freshmen, doing the long-distance race in grad school, or searching for writing resources to use in your classroom, College Writing 101 has something for you.
Second of all, I hope that you’ll grab your beverage of choice (make that a mocha for me), lean back in your chair, browse around, and share your thoughts. The college writing equation is not complete without you, the audience, and your own experiences, questions, and observations.
Fresh content will be added regularly, including but not limited to the following:
- Useful articles, handouts, reviews, example papers, and advice to help you in all areas of writing (ideas, organization, voice, sentence fluency, word choice) and with different types of writing assignments.
- Practical advice for writing a college admissions or scholarship essay
- How to write a resume and cover letter
- A collection of audio podcast recordings about college writing.
